HOORAY! THERE IS A NEW MANUFACTURER FOR THIS GREAT PRODUCT.
An ideal combination of weeding and loosening! This model is designed to be walked directly behind, so you walk over the soil you've just hoed. The idea behind hoeing (also with a regular hand hoe) is that you loosen the soil and dislodge all young weeds, and cut off weeds with deeper roots. You do this on a dry, preferably sunny day in the morning. In the afternoon, when the soil has dried, you rake the weeds together with a border rake or grass rake, whereby the dried soil falls between the weed roots and thus remains in the garden. During this raking, you also tidy up the soil and walk backwards. Material: Steel. Total length 1.40 m
Nice addition from a customer: Unlike many others, I know what a wheel hoe is and what you should do with it. Yet I have discovered a completely different way of using it that I enjoy immensely.
I have relatively heavy soil with a sublayer of sea clay. When I've dug, I have a lot of heavy clods that are not easily broken down (not even after a few days of sun). So I tried everything to break the clods down enough to be able to sow.
Then I came across a wheel hoe. If you set the blade as deep as possible, you can push it over the clods like a kind of "lawnmower" and thus get a beautiful top layer. It requires some muscle, but the result is fantastic. An unintended invention, you could say.
