A special flavour enhancer! A relative of Lemon Verbena (Vervaine). The leaf has a spicy, sweet taste (nice to chew on a leaf) and is a top choice for tea. The Aztecs called the herb "Tzopelic Xihuitl" and used the tea for coughs (mint and honey in 1!). The leaves contain 1000-1500x more sweetener than sugar, but due to the camphor in the leaf, it should not be concentrated into a sweetener. A handful of leaves in a salad, rhubarb, beets and carrots give a unique taste effect! As an ornamental plant, this white-flowering, widely spreading plant is certainly not without merit: no higher than 30 cm and an abundance of white flower clusters, comparable to ornamental verbena and lantana. Overwinter frost-free, the roots will sprout again. Koppert Cress calls the flowers of this plant Dushi Buttons.
