A fully Chinese medicinal plant. Here, the plant behaves as a perennial, hardy climber. When the plant matures after a few years, clusters of light pink, pendulous flowers appear in spring, followed by spikes of bright red berries. These berries have a calming and stimulating effect. You could say that this is the climbing Ginseng... Only use the berries when fully ripe. They contain sour, sweet, salty, hot, and bitter flavors! Hence the Chinese name "Wu-Wei-Zi", which means "Five-Flavor Fruit".
