A tropical tree that produces large, flat beans in long, often twisted pods, sometimes up to 50 cm long. The pods are shelled, revealing the striking stench of the beans: the stench resembles the smell of Shiitake, but stronger. In Asia, the bean is very popular, as it is often eaten as street food. The beans are often combined in dishes with other strong flavors: garlic, chili, mushrooms, and soy sauce. The tree should be grown in a large pot, can be kept outdoors in summer, and needs to be overwintered warmly. After several years of good care, the chance of pod setting is certainly not inconceivable. Send photos of your plant's development!
