This fascinating shrub or small tree grows in India and Pakistan. The leaves are bipinnate and finely textured. Multifunctional: the young fruits are eaten as yardlong beans, the young leaves, growing tips, and flowers can be used raw in salads or added to soups and sauces. Roasted seeds have a delicious, nutty flavor and are oily. The bark of the root is spicy and peppery and is used as a spice. The list is actually even longer; in short, it's an ideal tree for the Third World and interesting to get acquainted with here! In our climate, it's therefore a houseplant or container plant (outside in summer). Germination is spread over a longer period.
