Perpetual Spinach Small

  • Product number: 831470.1
  • Origin: Europe
  • Latin: Brassica oleracea var ramosa

This hardy cabbage has been cultivated in Limburg for a long time. This type of cabbage was probably brought to our regions by the Romans. In the past, perpetual kale was mainly used as a first spring vegetable and as fodder. In the early 20th century, the vegetable fell out of use due to increasing prosperity, but was saved from extinction by seekers of forgotten vegetables! The name 'perpetual kale' indicates its lifespan and method of propagation: you stick a piece of stem in the ground and the plant grows anew: "perpetual"... Give the plants plenty of manure and prune them regularly (cuttings!) and the mother plant will continue to produce for years. A net curtain or insect net helps against caterpillars (butterflies). We supply the green-leaved form.
