A very tasty lemongrass, which grows easily and is a good substitute for the thicker, Asian variety. The leaves are narrow and purplish-red at the base. It adds a delicious fresh taste to, for example, Chinese stir-fries. In the East, it is also popular in perfumes, oils and medicines.
