You don't see them often, but for the hobbyist, this purple asparagus (cream-green inside) is a taste sensation! 20% sweeter and certainly more aromatic than many other varieties, this vigorously growing (tetraploid) elegant variety yields its first harvest from the 2nd year. At its best raw (in salads) and when briefly cooked or stewed, they remain flaming purple; when cooked longer, they turn dark green.
Tip: for growing blanched (white) asparagus, asparagus foil is very useful! See 845005
