Historical Highlight: 'Huxley'

A delicious, thoroughly bright red strawberry with a rich sweet and wild taste. This strawberry has its history in the USA. Delicious as a snack or in jams and desserts! The plants are resistant to cold and extreme heat.
The most active American breeder around 1900 was probably Albert Etter from California, who developed dozens of varieties using native Fragaria chiloensis clones. His most successful variety was 'Ettersburg 80' (1910), which was widely grown in California, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. Renamed 'Huxley', the variety was still popular in England until 1953. Our strawberry collection consists partly of rare old varieties, which are only available in limited quantities. Therefore, the waiting time can be long. Annually in July, a new crop is potted by our grower, which is delivered in August-September. In April-May, we can replenish part of this assortment. Please note that there will be postage costs for any subsequent deliveries?
