Alpine Strawberry 'Deutsche Gewürzerdbeere'

  • Product number: 830245.1
  • Origin: Germany
  • Latin: Fragaria x ananassa

This sweet (German) strawberry was bred around 1925, along with the slightly better-known 'Frau Mieze Schindler' strawberry, but it was never widely cultivated. That's a shame, because although the dark red fruits are delicate for transport, they are bursting with sweet and wild aromas, even a tad tastier than FMS! Please note: the fruits require another variety for pollination, so always ensure you have multiple strawberry varieties in your patch.
Breeder: Professor Schindler from Dresden-Pillnitz. Our strawberry collection consists partly of rare old varieties, which are only sporadically available. Every July, a new crop is potted by our grower, which is delivered in September. In April-May, we can supplement some of this assortment.
