This Japanese citrus fruit has a mild lemon flavor with distinct characteristics of grapefruit and mandarin. It is used as a flavoring in sauces, vinegars, teas (with honey), liqueurs, beer, and wine. The peel is used in marmalades and cakes. The fruits are irregularly round in shape and 5-8 cm in diameter, with occasional specimens reaching 10 cm. This citrus can withstand some cold, but protection against frost during the day is recommended. The plant exhibits healthy growth with elongated thorns.
