'Coenen' is a Dutch variety from Veghel, North Brabant. The trees grow to a normal size, produce abundant male and female flowers and are good at self-pollination. Cross-pollination yields even more fruit and also helps all other varieties to produce a larger harvest. The nut is quite large, tastes good, has no shell defects and is easy to crack; in short, it's a winner.
Who doesn't know the walnut tree... broad trees that create a wonderful shady spot. A useful fact: mosquitoes and flies dislike the vicinity of this tree, so a bench under the walnut tree is a delight on a warm summer evening...! We supply young saplings, which gives the best chance of healthy growth. Plant them so deep that the root ball is just below the ground (not too deep) and ensure a moderately moist, well-drained spot. Walnuts need to ripen further after harvesting.
