Anyone who has ever eaten a perfectly ripe Nashi pear will never forget its heavenly taste! Aromas of a common pear, freshness of an apple, and sweet notes like a melon... But you can also harvest them when slightly unripe and then stew the fruits. The trees do not grow too large, but two different varieties are needed for fruit set.
The white blossoms are incredibly abundant, and so is the subsequent fruit set, but be sure to thin the fruit, otherwise, the fruits will remain smaller and less flavorful. 'Niitake' is characterized by very large fruits and has been on the market since 1927.
