The 'Leskovacka' quince is a vigorous and highly productive variety distinguished by its exceptionally rich, full flavour and intensely aromatic scent. The large, golden-yellow fruits have a firm texture and, after preparation, develop a deep, almost honey-like taste with a wonderfully warm fruit aroma. Ideal for those who want to make truly flavourful jam, jelly, or compote.
The tree grows healthily to a medium size and has a natural, balanced growth habit. In spring, 'Leskovacka' offers an elegant display of soft pink to white blossoms that attract many bees. In autumn, a generous harvest of high-quality fruits follows, which are excellent for processing.
This variety is very hardy and thrives best in a sunny, sheltered spot. 'Leskovacka' is therefore a top choice for enthusiasts looking for a quince with maximum flavour experience and traditional character.
Quinces form sturdy shrubs to small trees, blooming in late spring with light pink flowers. Fruit set is rarely an issue as most varieties are self-pollinating, though planting different varieties will increase the yield per plant. The fruits can be harvested late in autumn; wild quinces do not thrive well in our wet climate: special varieties yield the best harvest here. The fruits can be eaten raw, you just need to get used to the sour, moisture-extracting taste in your mouth. Once you get past that, it's a treat! However, the most common use is as compote in desserts, pies, etc. The delightful fragrance emitted by the fresh fruits is striking.
We supply 1-2 year old plants grafted onto Quince A, Quince Adams, or Quince Eline rootstock.
