The ‘Champion’ quince is a true classic for fruit lovers! This strong and reliable variety is known for its abundant yield and deliciously fragrant fruits. The golden-yellow quinces have a slightly fuzzy skin and develop a beautiful aroma and full, aromatic flavor after preparation.
‘Champion’ is a self-pollinating and very hardy tree that grows into a graceful, medium-sized fruit tree. In spring, it blooms with beautiful soft pink to white flowers, which also attract many bees. The harvest follows in autumn: firm fruits that are ideal for jam, jelly, compote, or quince paste.
This variety is also relatively easy to care for and thrives in a sunny, sheltered spot in the garden. A perfect choice for anyone looking for a productive and elegant fruit tree with character.
Quinces form sturdy shrubs to small trees, blooming in late spring with light pink flowers. Fruit set is rarely a problem as most varieties are self-pollinating, though planting different varieties will increase the yield per plant. The fruits can be harvested late in autumn; wild quinces do not cope well with our wet climate: special varieties yield the best harvest here. The fruits can be eaten raw, you just have to get used to the sour, mouth-drying taste. Once you get past that, it's a feast! However, the most common use is as compote in desserts, pies, etc. The wonderful scent that the fruits emit is remarkable.
We supply 1-2 year old plants with Quince A, Quince Adams, or Quince Eline as rootstock.
