This attractive variety was developed by New Zealand breeder Ken Nobbs from a cross of Actinidia arguta var. cordifolia with Actinidia melanandra. It is a variety with relatively large fruits that have a varying shade from red to dark red in both the flesh and the skin. The color intensity varies from year to year. The fruits have a very pleasant taste. The fruits do not soften quickly and are therefore suitable for transport. They grow on female plants, so a male pollinator is needed for fertilization: see 822560 'Weiki'. In summer, the leaves tend to hang slightly limp: don't panic, it's the nature of this variety.
