Haskap, Blue 'Blue Treasure'

The blueberry-like fruits of this bushy honeysuckle relative have a pleasant, sweet taste (with a slight tartness) and are eaten fresh (in a dessert, for example) and (for centuries) processed into jam, juice, compote or purée: very healthy!

The 'Blue Treasure' honeyberry is a robust, compact fruit bush originating from North Asia (including Siberia and Japan) and well-adapted to cold climates. The plant grows to about 1 to 1.5 meters in height and width and remains beautifully full and bushy, making it suitable for smaller gardens or ornamental gardens. In spring, it blooms with small yellowish-white flowers, followed by elongated, blue-dusted fruits that have a fresh, sweet-sour taste and are rich in antioxidants.

This variety is very winter hardy and relatively low-maintenance, but yields the best harvest in a sunny to semi-shady spot in nutritious, well-drained soil. For a bountiful harvest, cross-pollination is important, so combine it with another variety such as 'Aurora' or 'Blue Velvet'. Thanks to its early ripening and high yield, this is an attractive and healthy fruit plant for both beginners and experienced gardeners.
