The Red Zeller is a substantial shrub with very decorative, reddish-brown leaves and medium-sized brown hazelnuts in a decorative husk. The kernel of the fruit is firm, sweet, and good in taste. The shrub can be placed in both sun and partial shade. For pollination, another hazelnut variety is very beneficial, but self-pollination also yields results. Prune hazelnuts in the autumn: ensure the plant maintains a beautiful open structure.
Hazelnut bushes yield hazelnuts, a well-known and healthy nut, often associated with chocolate! The ripe nuts fall from the bush naturally (in September); collect them regularly. Hazelnut bushes form substantial shrubs that can be kept well open with some pruning. Give the shrubs a space of 2-3 m apart. Both male and female inflorescences grow on one plant; they are wind-pollinated. Self-pollination is unfavorable, so cross-pollination is necessary.
