Goji Berry 'Sweet Goji'

  • Product number: 822240.1
  • Origin: China
  • Latin: Lycium barbarum

A new addition to the fruit garden: sweet and sour, soft berries on strong, frost-resistant plants. A widely used plant from the Chinese tradition (which is still very much alive!): the berries and roots promise many health-promoting and health-preserving effects. The plant grows with long branches that need support (just like brambles) and also have long thorns. Plant them in a sunny or partially shaded spot in fertile, well-drained soil, and they will grow easily and are highly frost-resistant. Sources state that the fruits are very good for the eyes due to their high beta-carotene content.

The plants are self-pollinating, so 1 plant is sufficient for fruit set. Finally, a few more uses in (Chinese) cuisine: in rice porridge, in soups, with chicken, in the wok, for a healthy herbal tea, it can be made into wine or beer, and the young shoots are cooked like spinach. Furthermore, fresh juice is squeezed directly from it for a health-promoting juice drink. However, do not make it a daily drink, because too much is harmful. The plants can bear berries from the third year onwards, provided the location is suitable. The more sun, the better, and the soil must be well-drained and not remain wet after rain…
