Fancy a Garden

Trompenburg Tuinen en Arboretum (Rotterdam) is one of the most beautiful tree and shrub gardens in the Netherlands. Winnefred van Dijk, a gardener at the Arboretum, describes the weekly changes in this magnificent garden in Zin in tuin.
For twenty years, Winnefred van Dijk has been the woman with her hands in the soil there. She knows the many, many hundreds of trees and plants in Trompenburg like the back of her hand. And because there are just as many special exotic plants living among them, she can tell the most remarkable things about them off the top of her head. Winnefred van Dijk loves to talk about her garden. For years, she has had a column about her darlings (and nuisances and handfuls) in De Ster, the weekly newspaper of Kralingen-Crooswijk. A significant number of these writings have been compiled in the book Zin in Tuin.
