THESE BULBS WILL ARRIVE IN OCTOBER 2024.
(before 1800) This peony has been found in Dutch farm gardens for hundreds of years and is the earliest blooming (early May) double peony. The stems only grow to 50-60 cm high but sometimes still need support.
After years of experience in the Netherlands, our grower has put together a TOP assortment of the most beautiful and successful peonies.
They grow in all soil types:
On clay, growth is problem-free, do not fertilize too much and ensure good drainage.
On sand, the plants remain somewhat smaller; sufficient fertilization keeps the plant healthy.
On peat soil, growth is generally good, but the plants will need to be replanted or renewed slightly earlier.
Place peonies in a sunny spot, plant them (immediately upon arrival) so shallowly that only a few cm of soil covers the buds, pressing down the soil first.
We supply bare roots; each plant has grown for 4-5 years, so the chance of early flowering is high! Some varieties grow into their intended (double) form as they get older. Colors can vary slightly year by year and depend on the preceding winter cold. Because we have to wait until the plants have naturally died back, the roots are not available until OCTOBER AT THE EARLIEST.
