Paeonia lactiflora ‘Flame’

THESE BULBS WILL ARRIVE IN OCTOBER 2024.
(1939) Striking on many fronts: fiery orange-red in colour, single-flowered with a visible heart, blooms early: from mid-May. Furthermore, the plant is very sturdy, reaching a height of 80cm after a few years.

After years of experience in the Netherlands, our grower has put together a TOP assortment of the most beautiful and successful peonies.

They grow in all soil types:
On clay, growth is problem-free, do not fertilise too much and ensure good drainage.
On sand, the plants remain somewhat smaller; sufficient fertilisation keeps the plant healthy.
On peat soil, growth is generally good, but the plants will need to be transplanted or renewed a little earlier.

Place peonies in a sunny spot, plant them (immediately after arrival) so shallowly that only a few cm of soil covers the 'eyes', pressing down the soil first.
We supply loose rhizomes; each plant has grown for 4-5 years, so the chance of quick flowering is high! Some varieties grow into their intended (double) form as they get older. Colours may vary slightly year to year and depend on the preceding winter cold. Because we have to wait until the plants have died back naturally, the rhizomes will not be available UNTIL OCTOBER at the earliest.
