Paeonia lactiflora 'Claire de Lune'

  • Product number: 736651.1
  • Origin: China, East Asia
  • Latin: Paeonia lactiflora

THESE BULBS WILL ARRIVE IN OCTOBER 2024.
(1954) A very beautiful, single-flowered, creamy yellow Peony. This was developed through crosses with Paeonia mlokosewitschii. (It took 4000 crosses and 8 years to achieve this result...) The round, water-lily-like flowers are extra attractive due to the orange-yellow stamens, which form delicate powdery tufts. The plant blooms very early at a height of 80 cm and will grow to over a meter wide over the years. Rain hardly affects the flowering, and the foliage remains beautiful until autumn.

After years of experience in the Netherlands, our grower has compiled a TOP assortment of the most beautiful and successful peonies.

They grow in all soil types:
On clay, growth is problem-free; do not fertilize too much and ensure good drainage.
On sand, the plants remain somewhat smaller; sufficient fertilization keeps the plant healthy.
On peat soil, growth is generally good, but the plants will need to be replanted or renewed slightly earlier.

Place peonies in a sunny spot, plant them (immediately upon arrival) so shallowly that only a few cm of soil covers the "noses," pressing down the soil first.
We supply bare rootstocks; each plant has grown for 4-5 years, so the chance of quick flowering is high! Some varieties, as they mature, grow into their intended (double) form. Colors can vary slightly year by year and depend on the preceding winter cold. Because we have to wait until the plants have naturally died back, the rootstocks will only be available FROM OCTOBER at the earliest.
