Give them some shade and neutral to slightly calcareous soil. Planting depth at least 12 cm. A very hardy lily, which occurs in the wild in a few places in our country. The flowering height is 80-100 cm, with 3-20 nodding flowers blooming on a single stem. The colour is reddish with dark spots, flowering June-July. Pay close attention to the growing conditions and be patient for a few years, as the plant needs to "settle in". Some years we cannot get "wild" martagons, in which case we offer the darker coloured variety 'Claude Shride'.
"Wild" lilies from northern or other cold regions (such as this one) are best planted in autumn. For our large, colourful assortment of hybrids, including those of Asian origin, see the summer-flowering bulbs.
