Although the Spanish Bluebell (H. hispanica) has a sturdier stem and larger and more flowers, we still receive constant demand for this Northern European species. The flowers are a slightly darker blue, a little smaller, and the stem gracefully bends. The most important advantage is the wonderfully sweet scent, which can perfume the entire garden on spring days! Give them a (half) shaded spot in humus-rich soil. Do not plant together with H. hispanica, as the species cross and hybridize.
