Rare Snowdrop with a double skirt! The special feature is the green spots on the outside of the skirts. This is a so-called Greatorex hybrid.
One of the few people who systematically cross-bred different types of snowdrops was Mr. Heyrick A. Greatorex from Brundall, Norfolk, England. He used pollen from Galanthus nivalis 'Flore Pleno' on Galanthus plicatus, the Crimean snowdrop.
These crosses resulted in a number of interesting double snowdrops, known as the "Greatorex Doubles". All these cultivars are larger than the common double snowdrops and the flowers are also more regular in shape.
