One of the smallest of this genus.
Still 100-150 cm tall. The flower color is soft yellow.
Eremurus, or CLEOPATRA'S NEEDLE, creates a special effect in the garden! Its impressive height combines slenderness, so it doesn't obstruct views if you want to place it prominently at the front.
This relative originally comes from dry regions of Central Asia. Given this origin, the plant loves 3 conditions: good drainage, full sun, and (with an eye to flowering) a frost period in winter.
The unusual, starfish-shaped rhizome has its growing point in the center and is planted about 10 cm deep. In moist clay, a deeper hole should be dug with a generous layer of drainage gravel, then some clay with potting soil, and finally the tuber with topsoil. Planting in an (artificially created) mound is also an option. In sandy soil, it is recommended to enrich the planting hole with potting soil or compost.
In spring, a rosette of blue-green leaves first forms, after which the beautiful flower clusters appear around late May (if there has been frost). After flowering, the stems can be cut, but the leaves should of course be allowed to die back naturally.
