WINTER-FLOWERING. The large pink flowers with a purple base and strong scent appear in February – March. The sea-green leaves have grayish markings. A rare plant, originally growing in the mountains northeast of Beirut, where it was discovered in 1895. It was not seen again after that and was thought to be extinct until it was rediscovered in 1961. This beautiful species cannot withstand frost and therefore needs to be covered with extra leaves. However, the result is well worth the effort!
