This ornamental onion immediately caught the eye: full umbels with silvery-white florets, the pistil ripens from green to dark violet and the 5 lilac filaments follow the 5 petals. The remarkable scent is reminiscent of sweet liquorice! This 1999 selection from Allium multibulbosum was discovered by Dr. Rina Kamenetsky of the Israeli Langa Space Center. It blooms in June at a height of 60-90 cm.
Ornamental onions (or Ornamental Garlic) are very popular! They bloom from May, a time when garden chairs can be brought outside!
