This beautifully white ornamental onion was already cultivated in the mid-19th century. This species originates from North America. The sturdy, compact stems (30-40 cm) bear spherical clusters of bright white star-shaped flowers with bright purple stamens in May-June. The purple-pink color usually spreads as a light tinge over the flowers.
Ornamental onions are particularly popular! They bloom from May, a time when garden chairs can be brought outside!
