The name of this type says it all: this single-flowered dahlia has an extra collar of petals around the heart of the flower, in a contrasting or complementary color.
In 2005, Swan Island Dahlias (a leading Dahlia grower in the US) introduced this beautiful dahlia and described it lyrically: “Hootenanny brings to mind song and dance, and this variety is so cute that the flowers seem to dance in the summer breeze. The 7.5 cm flowers are vibrant magenta with a bright pink collar around a dark black open center. The plant has dark green foliage with dark stems, a nice contrast to the magenta flowers. Can be cut for arrangements, but cut young when the center is still waxy in appearance for best vase life.”
The king of summer-blooming tubers! The wide variety of color and shape, the breathtaking perfect form, and the good vase life make this flower so popular!
