Arisaema speciosum

Those who love subtle, exotic plants should plant this species; it will provide years of flowering pleasure! Place the plant among other lower plants or in light shade in a humus-rich spot. The 15 cm long spathe is violet on the inside and purple with white stripes on the outside. The spathe tapers into a very long point, up to 30 cm long, which often touches the ground! Inside is the cream to green-purple spadix. The three-part, green leaves are beautiful: the edges are often pale pink and the petioles are speckled brown. The total plant height is 60 cm and the flowers are halfway up at 30 cm. During the threat of severe frost, provide extra winter cover so that the bulbs are deeper.
