Rarely do you find such a beautifully flowering shrub within the dogwood family. I have seen them grow into small trees in gardens, although a harsh winter can be fatal. Cultivation in large pots is also possible (keep an eye on them in winter). The plant forms evergreen, lance-shaped leaves and flowers wonderfully with large, waxy, cream-coloured inflorescences. Sometimes a pink tint develops. After flowering, the next surprise: pink-red strawberry-shaped fruits! In the garden, this shrub grows into a small tree of 2.5 m high in 10 years. The fruits are edible, although sometimes bitter.
