Ornithogalum dubium

  • Product number: 645360
  • Origin: South Africa
  • Latin: Ornithogalum dubium

A beautiful bulbous plant; when I first saw these years ago, I thought they were painted... just ignorance! From seed, a small bulb will grow after 1 year, and after a few years, the bulb will become a flowering sphere. This beauty prefers nutritious but well-drained soil so that the bulb does not rot. When the leaves die off in autumn, you can remove the bulb from the pot and overwinter it in a dry, cool, and frost-free place until early spring. Then repot it; after 3-4 years, you can expect it to bloom: a spherical cluster of bright orange flowers will emerge on 30 cm high, fleshy stems.
