In tropical South America, this is the most well-known fuchsia and was already much loved by the Incas for its edible berries! Because the plants have been cultivated for so long, a lot of variation has arisen. Usually, they produce full clusters of thin, elongated, fiery red flowers. The plant is sensitive to frost, so bring it indoors in winter but DO NOT prune it; pruning should only be done after flowering, as the buds form at the end of December.
