An adventure to see this tropical “lady” grow! You know them: large leaves and a sturdy stem. This well-known African species is suitable for indoors and can also be kept outdoors in summer. If the old plant dies, there are usually 1 or more suckers that will continue to grow. In that case, cut away the old plant. The white flowers and red veins are characteristic.

Sowing method: The seeds are hard and dry. File or sand them along the seam, then soak them in warm water for 2 days. After this, place the seeds in a sealed plastic bag in the refrigerator for 3 weeks. Then place the seeds back in warm water at room temperature, changing the water daily. If no germination is visible after 2 weeks, allow the seeds to germinate in airy soil in a warm spot. Germination time normally varies from 1-12 months. As long as the seeds are hard, germination can follow; germination after 25 years is even possible...
