That this decorative plant is a relative of our Vinca (periwinkle) is evident from its flower and glossy leaves, but not from its thick, fleshy stem, which can reach a height of 1 meter (in nature even 3 meters!) from thickening roots. The plants bloom profusely at the tips and regularly renew their broadly spreading leaves. The seeds of this most well-known (but no less beautiful) species come from plants in Tanzania. The flowers are bright white with a red edge. Give the plant a warm and bright spot; too much water is out of the question. Bonsai enthusiasts love this plant because it naturally forms a miniature tree.
