The yellow to almost white flowers, with their beautiful, purple-brown speckled pattern, have the allure of an orchid! All the more surprising then that we are dealing with a super strong garden plant! It flowers in summer (June-Aug) at a height of 60-80 cm. Give them a sunny to semi-shady spot, well-drained soil. The plants grow wild in the forests of Japan. The young leaves and shoots are edible, provided they are cooked.
