In the first season, the large, silvery-grey rosette of broad, egg-shaped leaves with a typical aroma grows. In the second year, this develops into 75-100 cm high, decorative, richly branched flower stalks full of 3-4 cm large silver-lilac bracts and lilac-white labiate flowers. The plant then self-seeds, but also often sprouts again from the old plant. This is a larger (very ornamental) variety of the wild form.
