Persicaria virginiana 'Painter's Palette'

  • Product number: 599847
  • Origin: North America
  • Latin: Persicaria virginiana

If flowering is lacking in the shade, then a cheerful leaf colour can still provide some variety. This rather large-leaved, easy grower looks as if each leaf has been painted. A brown V-pattern with yellow and green leaf colours. The entire plant grows 60-80 cm high, the small, red flower spikes (Sept-Oct) are not very impressive. Ordinary green-leaved plants can grow from seed, so keep these separate.

Sowing method: The entire year. The seeds germinate irregularly over a longer period. Do not discard the seed tray too soon. First sow in a seed tray: 3 weeks at 20°C. Then 3 weeks in the refrigerator. Repeat this process until enough seedlings have germinated. If seeds germinate in the period October-March, keep them indoors after emergence, in a light and cool place (minimum 10°C). Prick out into pots.
