This species looks strikingly different from other garden lavenders. It has deeply lobed, fern-like, silver-green leaves that create a beautiful lacy effect and long stems topped with elegant blue-violet flowers that emerge in layers from scaly, elongated buds. This first-year flowering perennial is easy to grow from seed and has a bushy habit, blooming throughout the summer. The foliage of this Fernleaf Lavender is very aromatic with a hint of oregano and highly attractive to butterflies and other insects. Ideal for the garden and in pots, in a sunny location. In winter, they should be kept quite dry and may need some leaf cover or fleece during frost.
