From Southern Europe, this beautiful, very hardy native plant has naturalised in some places in our wilderness: a stinze plant, in other words. Gracefully feathered leaves with clusters of white, pink or blue labiate flowers at the top. Ideal for informal or wild gardens. Galega is Greek for "bringing forth milk". As long as the plant is not flowering, it stimulates milk production in nursing mothers and also in animals. Galega has been used since ancient times, also for lowering blood sugar levels and for promoting digestion and fluid excretion. Please note: during and after flowering, the plant becomes unsuitable and even poisonous!
