ORNAMENTAL AND EDIBLE! How can a plant protect itself from such harsh conditions...? In dry sand? Sea breeze? No problem! Place them in a not too wet and sunny spot in your garden: a jewel in thorniness, blue-grey in color and ± 60cm high. The young shoots (preferably blanched by placing a dark pot over them) are appreciated for their soft, asparagus-like taste. If you have enough (or too many) plants, you can also eat the root: subtly sweet and similar to carrots and parsnips. Finally, many medicinal properties are known, see the internet or books!
