The variety name already reveals that this is a “grand appearance”: the rose-pink flowers are large, and the orange-brown heart is certainly present. Together with its pleasant scent and sturdy stems (height 90 cm), it's a lovely plant for the border, and butterflies, bumblebees, and bees adore it. This North American wild plant has important medicinal properties. The unique substances echinacin and echinacoside work externally in ointment for various skin conditions. Internally, infection-fighting properties are attributed to it. Claims are made about increasing resistance against, among other things, colds. When experimenting with medicinal herbs yourself: always do thorough research first!
