The name "albus" refers to the white, woody rhizome. This somewhat sticky, hairy plant blooms with clusters of flowers on sturdy 60-100 cm high stems. The flower color is purplish-pink with dark veins. The essential oil, of which this plant is very rich, smells of cinnamon. On a warm summer evening, so much oil can evaporate that you can ignite it!

Sowing method: First, keep them in a warm and humid place for 6-8 weeks (seeds swell), then place the seed tray in the refrigerator for 4-8 weeks. An hour of frost is beneficial (germination hormones are activated); sometimes the seeds germinate in the refrigerator. Afterwards, place them in a warmer spot, but not warmer than 10°C. If germination does not occur, repeat the cycle. Outdoor sowing is also possible, provided summer and winter offer suitable conditions. If, for example, the winter is too mild, it will take an extra year.
