This African cousin of the well-known Ice Plants (Mesembrianthemum) grows and flowers best in a warm, sunny and dry (or well-drained) spot in your garden or in pots and containers. The succulent leaves only grow a few cm above the ground and form the base for an abundance of purple-pink flowers. These have thin, ray-like petals and a yellow heart, and insects love them!
In severe frost, protection with fleece cloth in combination with leaves is a good idea.
