WINTER-FLOWERING. The large pink flowers with a purple base and strong fragrance appear in February – March. The sea-green leaves have grayish markings. A rare plant, originally growing in the mountains northeast of Beirut, where it was discovered in 1895. It was not seen again after that, and was thought to be extinct until its rediscovery in 1961. This beautiful species is not frost-hardy and therefore needs extra covering with leaves. However, the result is well worth the effort!
