Great Masterwort

  • Product number: 575950
  • Origin: Europe
  • Latin: Astrantia major

What a subtle and elegant flower! The pointed, white-green outer wreath encloses a spherical, usually pink umbel of small flowers. The whole has a soft pink appearance. Give the plant a shady spot; the plant tolerates sun well if its base remains moist due to mulch or low vegetation. Height 80-100 cm, flowering period May-September. The plants can be used medicinally: as a stomach tonic and appetite stimulant.

Sowing method: Sow in a seed tray, first provide warmth for 2-4 weeks (18-22°C), then a cold period in, for example, the refrigerator (+4°C) for 4-6 weeks, then slowly warm up to room temperature again, after which germination will follow. Sowing directly into the ground is also possible; in that case, simply let it overwinter, and germination will occur in the spring.
