- Origin: East Africa
- Latin: Ricinus communis
Want to impress your garden friends or neighbours? Guaranteed success with this impressive, beautiful variety.
All parts (leaves, stems, and inflorescences) are deep purple in colour. But not just purple:
a sun-reflecting, metallic-like copper-bronze! The leaves appear to be made of a precious metal alloy... The height is 1.50-2m.
Very fast-growing plant with finger-shaped, large leaves. Could this be the plant that offered shade to the prophet Jonah? Fills a sheltered spot completely! Blooms with thick flower spikes of male and female flowers; the latter grow into round, spiky balls containing the beautiful seeds. These seeds are poisonous, but then again, who eats them... Overwinter plants indoors.
