Nicotiana tabacum 'Virginia 509'

Sowing method: February-April indoors at 20-25°C or outdoors in May (in a warm, shaded spot). Always pre-sow in a seed tray. Use cocopeat with silver sand as the seed medium; sieve the top layer extra fine (kitchen sieve). Spread the seeds over the seedbed, lightly press them down, and mist them thoroughly: they are light germinators! Prick out into potting soil in good time to prevent stunted growth. The plants can be moved outdoors in May, as soon as the weather becomes consistently warmer.
